Shaggy News 2009
Current mood: Focused
What is happening!! Happy New Year everyone, Colby here to give the low down on whats been goin down in the world of Shaggy Wonda. First off to close the door on '08 we played three fantastic shows at three of our favorite spots the weekend before Christmas, Uncle Fester's in Bloomington, Deerhead in Evansville, and Mousetrap in Indy. Then we clocked in some family time for Xmas, but then on the afternoon of the 26th we loaded up and headed down to Nashville, Tn for the fourth annual Nashville recording sessions. We did four days in studio A at Sound Emporium studios. This room has seen such acts as Robert Plant, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, and Bob Dylan just in the last year...no big deal. Our producer/engineer extrodinaire Taylor Pollert dialed up what is without a doubt the best Shaggy Wonda recordings to date. We tracked 10 songs in four days. We really wanted to capture the energy of our live shows in the studio setting so most of the tracks are full live takes. I was pretty proud of how well all four of us longhair's played together, the recordings really jump out and grab your attention. So stay tuned for these tracks to come out over the next year, in fact a couple teaser rough cuts will probably find their way to Myspace in the near future.
With the new recordings in hand now begins the process of using the new material to gain more exposure for the group within the music industry. We have begun to work through a laundry list of clubs, festivals, booking agents, and labels to submit to. The show schedule is filling in daily with shows confirmed into June at our usual spots as well as new towns and clubs. We are very excited and honored to gain some attention from Relix Magazine in their upcoming Feb/Mar issue as a winner in their JAM-OFF contest so pick yourself up a copy of that.
Stay tuned as we will bring you updates as we get them. Its an exciting time around the Wonda camp as we build off a successful '08 and bear down for the mountain of work ahead in '09. We have many surprises coming for all the Shaggy Heads including videos, a podcast, and much more still to be dreamed up. Thanks everyone for your support and we look fowrad to seeing you at a show in a town near you very soon. Take Care,Colby
