Shaggy Wonda's Indiana Flood Experience
Yoooooooooooooo ShaggyHeads,
Wassup wassup, its huffy again here to bore u all to death. So, if you havent heard the story of our trip back to Indiana ( for the stable studios music fest) from virginia, or are so totally out of the loop u dont know about massive flooding throughout southern IN, i will now rectify that. We left faifax, VA (about 15 miles west of D.C.) at midnight, sat morning, cruising along gravytrain until about half an hour into oHIo, when bambi's mom decides to play chicken with our rig and lost. :( Now i love animals just as much as the next person, so please dont think i am making light of the deer's fate, its just i forgot to pick up all that free venison we just had feshly made. So the van and everyone are fine (with the exception of the deer) and we commence to jigglin', ok i mean we got back on the road. smooth sailing across the indiana line. we get to 465 and start south on 37, and its rainin and we can feel something aint right. about 15 miles north of martinsville we are stopped by road blocks, DO NOT PASS GO, U DO NOT GET TO GO TO UR BEDS NOW, thats what the sheriff was sayin im pretty sure. anyway we turn around and head back north just in time because 37 is now starting to flood in many places. (oh yeah lets recap, we know this: 37 closed; 67 closed, mudslides trees u name it;) so... up to 65 we go to try to get south at least to columbus. there is a line in this sand and across it you do not-- also dude flood is not the preferred nomenclature, its torrential downpours causing massive areas of drainage challenged land, please. so 65 south is out. ok...so lets just pretend we r long-haulers and go hang at the flying J. 55 pushups later we decide to try to go south again. The radio has been keeping us informed, solid advice from concerned citizens and please sir can u tell me if my daughters cats got evacuated???????? they r very special cats who sleep all day, have u ever heard of such a thing? they must be saved!!!!!! anyway, 135, which we heard is open turns out to NOT be open about .6 miles from where we were gonna get on 45, but that is washed out anyway so... lets play moonshine runners and go try out the gravel roads runnin thru Brown County. hmmmm no go joe. well with the help of a magellan, a trusty road atlas(THANKS HUFFY), and our superior wits and sense of humor, we made it to the safe house deep in the woods of columbus, get fed and loved and decide we r gonna get to bloomington and then to spencer even if huffy has to swim dragging the van and trailer( he could definately do it I think)! well turns out 46 is now open again and we can just drive like its a normal saturday. One little roundabout to pass a washed out bridge in spencer later and we roll in to stable studios, set up, and rock out! whew i typed all that holding my breath are u shocked??! That is the story and im sticking to it. Sooo... if ur thinking about having a festival, and we would love to play it if u r, please coordinate with mother nature and set up a dry weekend, however, please know that we will get to it even if torrential downpours causing massive areas of drainage challenged land, or any other natural occurences occur!!!!!! Thanks for listening.... hey man wake up!!!! we love u guys . LATER. HUFFY BEAR aka put ur shirt back on dude aka Road dawg. OUT
