Shaggy Wonda is a high-energy rock/funk band that modernizes the classic rock sounds of decades past with driving riffs mixed with melodic lyrics. A rumble begins in the Midwest; the Shaggy Wonda circus is coming soon. Shaggy Wonda ... I had no idea.

March 7, 2010 News: Shaggy Wonda is heart broken to announce that our good buddy and band mascot, Abraham, has passed away. We know he is now chasing rabbits in the fields of dog heaven, but we are going to miss him terribly. He was one of a kind and never met anyone he didn't love (as long as you pet him). In Memoriam Abraham is posted in our Shaggy Buttonphoto gallery.

January 1, 2010 News: Wow, what a whirlwind 2009 was for us. It seems as though it wasn't but a couple of months ago that we were in Studio A at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, TN putting the finishing touches on the instrument tracking for Real World Shaker as '09 arrived. However, thinking of it now we have put a ton of hours and miles into the Shaggy Wonda machine since then.

After the tracking got done it took us a few more months to work the scheduling out to finish vocals and mixing but we finally released 'Real World Shaker' in June. This album is something we are all very proud of and had been a long time coming. While it is Shaggy Wonda's second studio album it is our first with Teddy Jones on the sax and therefore the beginning of the future of the band. In support of the album we launched our first national college radio campaign and that saw us receive airplay on over 150 stations from coast to coast. That airplay has fueled a lot of the awesome opportunities we are working on for 2010.
2009 also was a year that we went to new venues and towns. Places like Kalamazoo, MI, Milwaukee, WI, Morgantown, WV, Carbondale, IL, and Maumee, OH just to name a few. We have been more than flattered to see our brand of rock n roll be received well in these places and that fuels our fire to keep pushing ahead. We got to play some great festivals alongside great bands and in front of great people. We got press coverage in a lot of regional media and even from the national magazine Relix. We laughed a ton, yelled and pouted a little but the bottom line is, we got better. We got better at our live show, better at knowing and working with the Industry, better at song writing, better at communicating, and it shows and the right people are starting to take notice.
It may be a bit cliche but 2010 has a ton of potential for the band. We started the year off at 12:01am Jan 1st taking the stage at our first theater gig and now it is full steam ahead. Our first three gigs of the year are in three different states, at three new clubs for us. In January, we are being announced as the newest member of the Home Grown Music Network, a national promotion and distribution company that also has bands like Umphrey's McGee, Disco Biscuits, and Cornmeal on their roster just to name a few. In March we are playing in Austin, TX during the South By Southwest festival which will expose us to exponentially more people in the music industry than we have been before. We are working on playing at some large festivals in the summer and sometime amidst the madness we will begin work on a new album because we have been writing some great new stuff. I know that I am as excited as I have ever been about what we can accomplish. Our goal of being a full time touring band is almost within our grasp.
All of this is possible because of the support and encouragement we have gotten from our fans, actually more than fans, friends. All the faces in all the towns that have taken the time to come up and tell us they enjoyed themselves or those that got up and were the only ones on the dance floor on a slow night and helped us to loosen up and just play. We put so much passion and determination into this band that we find ourselves taking too seriously sometimes, but the thing that makes it all worth it is see our music, our orignal music, being soaked up by you, the listener.
Happy New Year, I hope you all have a safe and healthy 2010 and come out and hang out with us when we come through your town.

Thanks!
